At 21,just married,a potential family on the way, moving twice to different states successfully thwarted my innate and latent artistic ambitions to pursue still life and landscape oil painting~unless I could paint inside of a vacated wardrobe container!
Then tried to use creative leanings on my growing family as we moved from Oklahoma to Tennessee and back to Texas. Was able to slip in some addtional college work in art and architecture at UT Austin and then latched onto opportunities in construction, interior design and real estate.
Fortuitously a friend asked me to attend artist Kevin Mcphersons' pleinair workshop in Taos,New Mexico in 1999. I went with a clean slate. The boom of my "eureka" moment still reverberates. What an unadultered joy I discovered in painting outdoors!
My newfound passion gave me the impetus to travel to and spend time in France,Spain, Italy and southern Colorado
wearing out my shoes, hiking boots, paint brushes, pochade box and countless acres of canvas.
Since then, it's usually only bad weather that finds me painting inside of my Texas Hill Country studio! Otherwise I am outside creating impressions of landscapes, wildflowers,or unique old buildings. I enjoy my life as an artist.
Come with me and experience this joy in nature!
